Legal Equestrian is pleased to announce its formation for the purpose of meeting the legal needs of the horse community.

Legal Equestrian is operated by Lisa L. Lerch, an Orange County, California based attorney whose practice is solely  focused on equine-related matters. Lisa has been in private practice for over 10 years as the Law Offices of Lisa L. Lerch handling everything from criminal law, contract law, family law,  probate law and business formation just to name a few.

As a horse owner herself she is now pleased to combine her two greatest passions, horses and the law. 

WHY A HORSE LAWYER?

California does not have a specific set of legal statutes that address the needs of the equine community.  Instead the courts rely on a variety of statutes including but not limited to contract law, tort law and probate law.  An attorney who is familiar with the needs of the horse community and is up to date on current equine law developments is able to better analyze equine breeding, buying, selling and management issues in a timely manner.

Parties often find themselves embroiled in litigation that is expensive, time-consuming and unpredictable simply because they entered into a transaction without a written agreement or they used a standard form agreement that allowed for ambiguity and confusion.
